It is not necessary to cover the unit, especially if you have a heat pump that runs throughout the year. Covering the unit may trap moisture which can cause damage. If you have a problem with leaves or debris in the fall, short covers are available as an optional accessory.
A heat pump is an all-in-one heating and air conditioning system that works year-round to keep you comfortable.
During warmer months, a heat pump works as a normal air conditioner. It extracts heat from inside the home and transfers it to the outdoor air. In colder weather, however, the process reverses - the unit collects heat from the outdoor air and transferring it inside your home.
Zoning systems are designed for how you use your home. You can program heating and cooling to work at different temperatures in different zones of your house. This is ideal for rooms that you don’t use or if different members of the family like to be warmer or colder when they sleep.
Most people think that air conditioning cools your home. While that is the end result, air conditioners actually removes heat from the indoor air and transfers it to outdoor air. Heat is extracted from the home by passing the indoor air over a refrigerant coil. The refrigerant lines carry the heat to the outdoor unit where it is released outside. The cooling cycle continues until the indoor temperature reaches the thermostat setting.
Your air filter will be located either in the blower compartment of your furnace, in an attached filter case, or in a wall-mounted return air grille. If you cannot find your filter, call us at 888-235-2473.
